Hi everyone!

I'm feeling a bit nostalgic today so I wanted to share a little slideshow of some of some of my previous Third Coast projects.  I think that slideshows and screen savers are a fun way to be inspired - even when you're not in your craft room!  I hope you'll share a link to your slideshows in the comments too!

Thank you for visiting,

Les Fleurs

Hi everyone!
It's Victoria Day weekend here in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada so my DH and I are extending our 3 day weekend into 4 days and heading to New York city to play 'tourist' for a few days!  Of course, one can't travel without a simply fabulous luggage tag, so I put my trusty Third Coast stamps to work to create a luggage tag with style!  This tag folds like a card with my contact info inside and tucks into a clear plastic sleeve attached to my bag.  NOW, I'm all set to travel! LOL!  For more details on how this was created, please drop by my blog.
Happy weekend,
Val  W. :)

by Rebecca Stiles
Third Coast stamp used:  Draggin' VB-203-0
A while back I posted a piece using this great cowboy stamp on a scrap of fun foam.  This time around I stamped on a piece of birch bark (using StazOn ink). The piece of birch bark I used was from a roll that had a cotton mesh backing, which I let show at the edges. The fragile bark was mounted on heavy weight poster board for support before it was fastened to the cardstock.  This was placed on the layers of brown and copper cardstock.  .  I used real horse hair (amazing what you can find at a resale shop) and threaded it through a metal spiral embellishment.

Third Coast stamp used:  CO-290-P
This is the fourth stamp in the wonderful set of circular Celtic images, and I wanted to pull out all the stops with the coloring!  I used colored pencils and then covered the image with liquid glass so it would glow.  This was layered over a page from a floral art book, which I tweaked with colors using Copic markers.  This in turn was mounted on glittery scrapbook cardstock.

The End of the Journey

by Rebecca Stiles

Third Coast stamps used:  Bellah’s Flight FT-212-L and  Knight Riding AP-009-C (image stamped 3 times)

The end of the journey is in sight for the brave knights returning to their homeland.  Bellah flies above on her bird, also heading for home.  Perhaps she accompanied the knights, unseen by them, as a protector.

I used a stamp positioner and masking techniques to stamp this scene.  The scroll frame was made with a piece of 12x12 patterned scrap book paper, cut to the necessary dimensions, and slit to allow the artwork to be slid into the frame.

Other stamps used:  bottom left foreground:  Love You to Bits
Cliff on bottom right is a portion of a Beeswax stamp
The city scene includes the trees and shoreline….the stamp company is unknown.

April Showers Bring May Flowers

Hi everyone!

I think I'm trying to rush Spring along with this little project! LOL!  It's made from a tag recycled from a new pair of dress pants - a bit of a challenge as it's quite a small tag!  This darling image has been stamped on X-press It paper.  To paint it, I scribbled Tombow Markers onto a plastic plate, picked up the color with a nice wet watercolor brush and applied it to the image.  I wish you cold see the Glimmer Mist background sparkles... it's realy pretty in person! :)

Shipwrecked Stowaway

 by Rebecca Stiles

Third Coast Stamps used:  Shore Scene CM-104-V
Canntella’s Cask  FT-214-I
Rocky Shore  FA-239-K
Troll with Sword  FT-219-H

I love putting stamps together to create a scene, and the Fairy Tale stamps provide lots of fun choices.
So what is the story here?  Canntella has been shipwrecked, after having hidden aboard in an empty barrel.  But what happens as soon as she crawls out of the barrel?!  Is the troll attacking or is he just afraid of the human who has washed up on his shore?  You decide!
Scene stamping is done using lots of masks and a stamp positioner.  A fine tipped micro pen is used to extend lines and fill in the "halo" a mask sometimes leaves.  Some stamps, such as part of the beach scene are stamped repeatedly to cover a larger area than the original stamp.
Coloring was done with Copic markers, pencils, chalks, gel pens, acrylic white wash paint.

Henrietta looking so stylish in her Easter Bonnet and Challenge News!

Hello Third Coasters!

I've made a small change to our Third Coast Creative Challenges schedule! Starting with the next one our challenges will now begin on the first Friday of every month and close on the Wednesday before the next challenge starts! So now you've got lots more time to play and enter! With that in mind I've extended the end date on our current challenge, TCCC#14 Easter Bonnets, which will now close on Wednesday April 3 at 7am PST and TCCC#15 Spring Steampunk will start on April 6!

Here's my inspiration for the 2nd week of the Easter Bonnet challenge. I created a vintage chic card that features another one of Third Coast's bonnet wearing felines with the perfect matching sentiment! I LOVE this kitty, she's so adorable in her fancy bonnet and matching outfit!

Here's pics of the other bonnet kitties that are available!

Stop by my blog, Leigh S-B Designs, for more info on this project and don't forget to also visit my DominoART blog for week 3 of my new altered game art challenges!  D'ART#1 is Easter/Valentine Domino Books.
